Emerging Issues in States and Provinces - panel discussion - Michelle Fuller, Shannon Handsor, (Marco or Alan), Shelly Graham moderator
A variety of topics that are circulating throughout the states and provinces will be discussed including the recent property tax cap passed by the Alabama legislature. We will also discuss the challenges that come along with legislative changes. Effective oversight in property assessment requires both professional independence and domain expertise—not as opposing forces, but as complementary elements. At MPAC, the Office of the Quality Service Commissioner has been established to strike this balance, supporting fair, objective, and competent oversight. This webinar will explore how the governance framework addresses the challenge of maintaining independence while ensuring oversight is grounded in assessment knowledge with the specific lens of responding to public valuation concerns.
